What is Dolio?
Dolio is a free expense-splitting app that helps friends, roommates, and travel groups track shared costs, see who owes whom, and settle up.
Is Dolio free?
Yes. The free plan has unlimited groups and expenses, and no plan shows ads— Dolio is funded by the optional Pro plan (€2.49/month), which adds receipt scanning and analytics.
How does Dolio split expenses?
Add an expense, choose who paid and who participated, and pick a split type — equal, by share, or by exact amount. Dolio updates everyone's balance instantly and suggests the fewest transfers to settle.
Does Dolio support multiple currencies?
Each group has one currency, chosen from about 150 codes, so a trip in yen and a flat in euros each keep clean numbers. Dolio does not convert between currencies inside a group.
Can I use Dolio without an account?
Creating a group and joining as yourself needs a sign-in (Google, Apple, or email). The people you add as ghost participants need nothing — they appear in every split without an account and can claim their identity later or stay anonymous.
Where is my data stored?
Group data is stored on Dolio's servers in the EU, encrypted in transit. Only members of a group can see its expenses and balances.
