What does Dolio read from the receipt?

The merchant, the total, and each individual line item with its price. It uses those to pre-fill an itemized expense you can adjust.

Do I have to trust the scan blindly?

No. Dolio pre-fills the expense from the receipt, but you review and assign every line before anything is saved. The scan is a head start, not the final word.

How does the scanning work — is it private?

Receipt scanning is powered by AI (Anthropic). We disclose this in our Privacy Policy, where Anthropic is listed as a sub-processor for receipt scanning.

What if the receipt is in a different currency than my group?

Dolio uses the amounts as they appear on the receipt and does not silently convert them. If the receipt currency differs from your group's currency, it flags that so you can convert intentionally — the same honest approach as Dolio's multi-currency handling.

Is receipt scanning free?

It's a Dolio Pro feature. Pro is €2.49/month, or a 7-day pass from €0.99. Everything you need to split expenses is free forever; scanning is an optional upgrade.
